Minnesota Tops Nation in Census Response Rate

Minnesota has the highest census response rate in the country as of April 22 for the 2020 census.

And Dodge County has a higher response rate – 63.3 percent - than the state average of 61.8 percent.

Now we have an additional three months to respond because of the Census Bureau adjustment to the due date. The self-response period has been extended through Oct. 31 because of the COVID-19 crisis.

It’s important to note that a census taker will visit your residence if you don’t respond via computer, by phone, or by mail.

If you haven’t responded yet, please do so as the census figures determine how much in federal funds the state receives and our population determines our representation in both the state legislature and in Congress.

The state currently receives about $15 billion in federal money (before the current crisis) and those funds are spread over education, healthcare, infrastructure, unemployment benefits, food assistance, public safety, help for small businesses, family services, housing assistance and state wildlife grants.

Please share this post with your acquaintances to spread the word and help Dodge County get the best response rate in Southeast Minnesota.
