At their regular meeting April 23, the Dodge County Commissioners unanimously approved a Shade Tree Bonding Grant agreement between the Department of Natural Resources, Forestry Division, and the county to remove 13 Ash trees on county property at the sheriff’s garage property and at the Dodge County Historical Society property in Mantorville. The county will then replant 15 trees to replace those removed. The new trees will be planted at the Courthouse/Annex complex and at the Government Services Building. County staff members will be responsible for the maintenance of the trees after they are planted.

The grant totals about $8,000. Removal of Ash trees infected with the emerald ash borer helps to slow the spread of these insects.
