Tristan Knight is a junior at Stewartville High School who has proposed an Eagle Scout project to benefit Dodge County. Tristan plans to build five benches and 10 bird boxes made of recycled materials that will be placed in the county’s new park when it opens near the Transfer Station. In this picture, he is standing behind his prototype bench. The park will be located east of the county Transfer Station/Recycling Center. The land for the park is a 32-acre designated buffer zone adjacent to the facility and therefore cannot be developed. Planning for the park is currently underway.

Tristan said Dodge County employees Melissa DeVetter, County Project Manager and Jackson Miller, Environmental Program Manager have been very supportive in helping him plan and set up the project. He also thanked Jerry Pruett for helping him choose the types of bird boxes. Jerry is a birding expert with world-wide experiences.

Tristan received a grant from People’s Energy Operation Roundup to help buy needed materials.
