Dodge County is home to four libraries that are members of SELCO (Southeastern Libraries Cooperating) and SELS (Southeast Library System.) SELCO was established in 1971 and is a nonprofit corporation. These organizations bring federal and state aid funds into the system as well as technology services and the sharing of resources including interlibrary loans of physical materials as well as electronic books and audiobooks. The governing body of this system includes a representative from each library in the system and from each county in the system. Presently, the board appointment for Dodge County is vacant. The Dodge County Commissioners are seeking someone who would like to serve in this capacity. The group meets bimonthly on the fourth Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the months of January, March, May, July, September, and November. An Executive Committee made up of seven members elected from this board meets during the intervening months to take care of business decisions. If you’d like to apply for this vacancy and help guide libraries in our region, please contact Dodge County Administrator Jim Elmquist at (507) 635-6239.
