Proposed property tax statements have been mailed.

In mid-November every year, each county in Minnesota must deliver notices of proposed property taxes to each property owner. Those proposed taxes, if approved, will be the amount of the property owners’ taxes for the following year.

Each property owner may attend the counties’ public meetings held between late November and the end of the year to discuss those proposed taxes. In Dodge County, that meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Government Services Building, 721 Main St. N., Mantorville. The county is encouraging anyone interested in attending the meeting to do so through the following links because of COVID 19 restrictions.

In the spring of each year, property owners receive Property Tax Statements that list what the value of their property is. Property taxes are calculated using that value.

Property owners may attend the annual County Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting to ask for changes to the valuation of their property. Those meetings are held in the spring.
